The Food & Wine Capital Of The World

Sit down and savor the food of this unique land, which offers a remarkable mouth-watering selection: from truffles to rice, exquisite cheeses and wines to chocolate treats, you can decide whether to experience it all in one of 46 Michelin-star restaurants, traditional trattorias, wine bars, wine cellars, historic cafes or high-altitude refuges. Harmonious contrasts make for unforgettable vacations.

Piedmont or Piemonte, which means foot of the mountain, is nestled in the Swiss Alps of Northern Italy. It borders Switzerland and France to the North and West. It is a spectacular region that shares quite a bit in common with France in regards to its cuisine and culture in some areas. Its capital Turin has hosted the Olympics and is the home of the Football team Juventus. It’s a region where history meets modern as it is also the headquarters of Fiat and Alfa Romeo.

Wine

Undoubtedly the richest and most decadent cuisine in all of Italy is found here in Piemonte, boasting over 40 Michelin restaurants.

The finest wine region in Italy and potentially the world is found here between Barolo, Barbaresco, Roero and Alto Piemonte. World class ageworthy red wines boasting structured tannins yet elegant hedonistic bouquets is enough to make you go crazy!

Food

This is a land that is rich as it produces the most expensive truffles in the world and hazelnuts for Nutella who’s headquarters are found in Alba. Every year in the fall for 6-7 weeks during truffle season, the International Truffle Festival descends upon Alba. Mounds of local fresh pasta, Tajarin, with fresh shaved truffles is enough to make angels sing. Also ot should be noted that Piemonte has more DOP cheeses than any other regions of Italy. This region also boasts more DOCG wines than anywhere else in Italy. The birthplace of the slow food movement started here in the town of Bra.

Culture

The morning fog covers the rolling hills of Langhe Piemonte where you will see castles dotted  about the countryside like a fairytale dream. Truthfully between all the great wine, food and picturesque views it’s a wonder that you haven’t moved here already. Every year during the fall the accommodations and reservations at restaurants are typically booked 1 year in advance so it’s important to book early.

The meal experiences are completely farm to table and usually last two- three hours complete with 3-7 courses.
